Cupping has been used not only in China and South East Asia but in many other cultures throughout history. We’ll often incorporate some cupping as part of your acupuncture treatment, depending on your symptoms.
We use glass cups and a flame to create a vacuum, the cups are then placed on your body – often on the back but we do use them in other places to. It feels a little strange at first as the skin is pulled up into the cup, but don’t worry it doesn’t hurt – and we’ll always check in with you to make sure you are comfortable.
Another technique that we use is sliding cupping – where some oil is used first on the skin then the cups are applied and moved along areas of tension – or along the meridian lines. This feels similar to a massage and can really help relieve your aches and pains.
Interested in trying cupping? Let us know when you book your appointment – it is always available in One-to-One acupuncture sessions, and depending on how busy we are we can also include it as part of the multibed sessions.
