I originally trained as an Artist, graduating with a degree in fine arts (drawing, printmaking, photography), at the Nova Scotia College of Art & Design. After college I moved to London and while still involved in the Arts, I became increasingly curious about Complementary Therapies and began reading about and receiving many types of bodywork. I did various short courses and this eventually led me to one year Shiatsu course at the College of Shiatsu –Do .
I then trained as a professional Reflexologist at the Center for Integrated Medicine in Bethnal Green qualifying in 2005 and continued to deepen my knowledge of the practice by taking VRT(Vertical Reflex Therapy) courses with Lynne Booth and Reflexology and pregnancy and Advanced Techniques with Julia Williams. I spent many years working at the Bromley-By -Bow Center first in a low cost clinic at their Doctors surgery and then working with “Young At Art” a project for older people combining Art and Refexology .
In 2013 I trained as a Cranio-Sacral Therapist at the College of Cranio-Sacral Therapy in North London. I have found it to be a wonderfully gentle but deeply profound therapy that assists the body to find its way back to its inherent vitality. During a session a case history is taken. The client remains fully clothed on the treatment table and the therapist makes light hands on contact with the spine, head or other areas of the body. Clients often report sensations of tingling, warmth, pulsing, and a feeling of softening in specific areas. A sense of deep peaceful relaxation is also a frequent comment.
I have found this therapy absolutely invaluable in my own life, improving my mobility, overall health and teaching me how to slow down and really enjoy my life.
